About Kelsey & colin

As a Colorado native, Kelsey loves all things "Coloradical" - the Broncos, skiing, and hiking to name her faves. She's also an avid reader, yoga enthusiast, and doting aunt. Beyond CO, she spent a good portion of her developmental years in southern California (though much to Colin's chagrin did not learn to surf). Indulging in her love of international travel, she had stints living abroad in both Spain and Italy, gaining near-fluency in both languages, then promptly losing it as life carried on upon moving back to Colorado.

There she returned to her immediate family and embarked on her professional journey as a corporate event manager for groups in both Colorado Springs and Denver - which spanned anywhere from taking clients on hot air balloon rides and white water rafting, to fretting over evening gala entertainment and decor. With such a background she was recruited to launch Denver's market for a Chicago-based start-up bringing e-commerce to event venues. Having completed that task, she moved on to dabble in marketing for a local Denver magazine (more on these experiences in The Decision to Move). Amidst the above, Kelsey participates as a Board Member for the Dakota Foundation - with a deep appreciation for philanthropy, she collaborates with the diverse board and the Foundation's non-profit partners on fulfillment of its mission.  She continues this work despite having uprooted her life along with Colin, who shares the wanderlust itch that recently brought them to New Zealand (the first choice in a long list of beckoning destinations).

Hailing from the fair state of New Jersey, Colin wandered west to Colorado in the late summer days of 2011. Having spent a few years working as a teacher and coach, both domestically and abroad, he decided to expand his knowledge and skills. Having completed a Master's in International Disaster Psychology at the University of Denver, and having found a lovely companion in Kelsey, Colin decided to spend time in Colorado and served as the state's coordinator for several disaster behavioral health programs. Still contributing to this field as a part-time trainer for other related programs, he has also expanded his skills as co-creator of a podcast (30 Seconds In) exploring the lives of international aid and development workers. Beyond his professional pursuits, Colin fancies himself an avid soccer fan, still actively playing when possible, and following the US MNT every four years for a few weeks at the FIFA World Cup. When he's not escaping to 'the pitch,' Colin is likely running, snowboarding, hiking, or - when he's not landlocked - surfing. There's even been some time spent earning travel money as a male model/commercial actor. Jack of all trades, master of none anyone? That said, he's developed quite a penchant for international travel over the years, successfully setting foot on all six inhabitable continents. Antarctica, you're next!
